He cleared his throat, catching the attention of the women. They grew quiet when he said, "Excuse me, has anyone seen Emily?" When nobody offered an answer, in a loud voice he said, "I drove a long way to see the woman I love and I will be damned if I leave here without seeing her." He heard quite footsteps behind him and turned to see Emily standing there with a shocked look on her face.
He said, "Hello, Emily. I need to talk to ya." She shook her head. He remembered her grandmothers words about how stubborn she could be. Then he said, "I have driven for hours to see you, in a big city, which I detest. I don't care if people point at us and snicker because of our age difference. I know one thing. I love ya with all my heart. I would walk to the ends of the Earth for ya. I would even die for ya. If that doesn't prove my undying love for ya, then you are blind, Em." She stood there listening to him as her eyes filled with tears. She didn't say a word when he was done. After a minute he said, "I will love ya until the day I die." Then he walked out the door.
